Monmouth Bench

Monmouth Bench

We rented a house in the English countryside while visiting relatives, and I was delighted that one of the bedrooms had a pair of twin-size spindle beds. I’ve long loved their knobby legs and have found that depending on how you paint and style them, they brighten several different decors. I decided to bring that same texture and craft to a bench, and the result is the Monmouth Bench.

It’s long and slim, with a hand-tied rush seat, scalloped apron, and estate-grown mahogany frame finished in deep chocolate brown or a clear finish. It would be right at home at the foot of a bed, in the foyer for putting on and slipping off shoes, or as banquette seating in a breakfast room.
